50 Shades of Ehh....
I, like almost the entire rest of the female population it seems these days, got sucked into the Shades of Gray series. It was another quick, easy read much like the Twilight series was. Fittingly enough as that's the series the author reportedly was inspired by.
I've finished the series and other than spicing up my sexual appetite and making me grateful for the trust and open communication the Husband and I have, it was very eh. It was predictable at parts, had a very disappointingly upbeat ending, but even the sex scenes got mundane by book 3. I mean, c'mon people, how many women out there really, I mean REALLY want to be blindfolded, and whipped?? Yeah everyone says they'd let Christian do it but in reality, very few will go beyond lovetaps. (The Husband is not into playing as hardcore as I want, so these books did nothing but frustrate me, since I don't have an overly eager virgin lover in my bed, willing to try almost anything once just to please me...damn my luck!)
I get it's fantasy fiction, but it wasn't the best I've read. I guess after reading series by Jacqueline Carey and Laurell K Hamilton, I expected more from a book being toted as "mommy porn".
Now that I've finished the series, I'm moving onto other books. Including comics and graphic novels. I'm also reading a couple legal mysteries and silly girly fluff reads. Thank goddess for amazon free downloads for kindles!
